Jamaica 2023 Day #3

Jamaica 2023 Day #3

All of our leaders were so impressed with our teens hard work today.  We knew from the start that our first day would be challenging… and it was, but our team rose to the challenge.  We had a few program elements fall through at the last minute, so today was all hands on deck to get a jump on the ambitious work projects we committed to this week in Canterbury.  At Redemption Chapel we are painting ceilings, replacing windows, repairing the auditorium roof and re-siding the home of a family in the community.  It was crazy hot today and we burned through about 3 cases of water and an igloo cooler. We started working at 9 AM and worked until 3 and then prepared for our after school program that started at 4 and ended at 5:30.  We had 23 children participate in a rotation of Bible lesson, craft and game time. At the conclusion of our time we served them a meal of fried chicken and rice and peas, prepared by some ladies at the church. We got back to Jamaica Link a little after 6, ate dinner and then a bunch of us rushed across the street to swim in the Caribbean sea.  AAAHHHH… so refreshing.  Here are pictures from our day and I’ll write more tomorrow.

Tomorrow we start devotions at the school and also are sending a portion of the team to WestHaven, an orphanage for disabled children. …. Keep praying for us!  God bless and good night.

Steve

  1. Love the updates! Wishing I was with you! Please tell our team I am praying and SO many people asked about you all on Sunday. Love the reminder from the first update from Eph. 2 that God has prepared ahead of time these good works. You are His hands and feet this week to show His love & care & compassion to some who may feel forgotten. Love you!
